Matthew Klein is the Director of Coursera’s International Public Sector practice. Over the past six years, he has built a globally leading business to provide job-skills to citizens around the world and reskill public sector workforces at scale. Matt has spent significant time structuring programs on each continent, including a program to train all 60,000 government employees in Abu Dhabi, as well as at-scale workforce programs in Pakistan and Kazakhstan to reach over 45,000 students per year underserved by the current educational system.

Previously, Matt advised governments across sub-Saharan Africa on health programs, including driving a successful national-scale HIV testing and treatment program in South Africa to test 15M people and double the number of patients on treatment for HIV. Matt also successfully worked with countries like Nigeria, Uganda and Ethiopia to improve Maternal and Neonatal mortality via supply chain improvements, as well as to improve immunization cold chain efficacy across Tanzania, Kenya, and Malawi at the Clinton Health Access Initiative. He holds a BA from Haverford College, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
