John is an experienced IT leader, educator, consultant and innovator with a long history of working in higher education and Information Technology.  He is currently the Deputy CIO at Arizona State University (ASU) in the United States.   He is a pioneer in data analytics, helping ASU build a data warehouse in the mid 1990s and a thought leader on the topic. John developed his first cloud application in 2010 and has been a fan of public cloud since.  He was also an early adopter of voice technology (including a TedX talk) and was instrumental in the opening of the ASU Smart City Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) powered by AWS at ASU’s Skysong campus.  John is also a part-time instructor in the ASU W.P. Carey School of Business, teaching cloud foundations (CIS 194) and big data concepts (CIS 415).  He holds a degree from Clarke University (Iowa) and a MBA from ASU. He is a two-time recipient of ASU’s President’s Award for Innovation.
